Manifest Urban Arts Festival
Going on its 17thyear, Columbia College will be hosting its annual Manifest Urban Arts Festival! During Manifest, roads are closed off for Graduating Columbia students from every department in the school to showcase their final projects to the public. You are guaranteed to see a plethora of music performances ranging from genres of Hip-Hop, Musical Theatre, Jazz and Rock. By showcasing their extraordinary work, Manifest performers have brought in crowds of 30,000 in the past. It is not something you’ll want to miss! You can experience this year’s festival on May 10th. 4thAnnual House Music Festival
During Memorial Day weekend, the streets of Downtown are going to be tremoring to the beating 8o8s of house music! Chicago is identified as one of the origin locations of House Music and this year the city will see its 4thannual House Music Festival. The Festival kicks off with educational conferences at the Cultural Center on May 23rdand transitions into a weekend full of DJ’s painting Millennium Park with the sounds of house. Oh yeah, did we mention that this entire festival is free? From May 23rdto May 25th, get out to Millennium park and live your best life!
Chicago Gospel Music Festival
What better way to spend your last day of May than to refresh at Chicago’s 34thGospel Music Festival. The great thing about this genre music is that you don’t have to share any religious experience, this music is simply used to uplift and inspire the listeners! We could always use some inspiration and uplifting lyricism accompanied by powerhouse choirs. The Gospel Music Festival will be held in Millennium Park on May 31stand June 1stso be sure to cease the opportunity for FREE.
We have survived the fierce winter in all of its Arctic glory ( Or so we think?) To be honest that did not stop many of us from going out to see some of the most anticipated films this year! From the introduction to Marvel’s female warrior “Captain Marvel” to Jordan Peele’s Sci-fi thriller, “Us” we are on our way to a year full of extremely decorated and authentic films.

If you have been keeping up the the DC (Detective Comics) Franchise then this is definitely the movie for you. SHAZAM is the origin story of a teenage boy who is granted the ability to turn into an Adult Superhero with God-like abilities. Check it out April 5th to see how he balances the life of a teenager and being the world’s last hope against evil.
The Best of Enemies April 5th, 2019
The Best of Enemies tells the story of two individuals on opposite sides of the political spectrum coming together to ultimately stop the racial turmoil taking place in a segregated education system. The movie is expected to be an emotional roller-coaster ride with its highly reflective and educational events. Bring tissues!
